Gettysburg Green Gathering Scholarship Criteria

Apply for the Gettysburg Green Gathering scholarship.

The GGG Scholarship is given on an objective, non-discriminatory, blind basis.

The scholarship is available to a graduating high school senior from an Adams County PA school district.  The student will demonstrate: financial need, GPA of 3.0 or higher, emphasis on environmental studies or related field with an intent in majoring in an environmental studies or related field.   Student must be attending a 2 or 4 year accredited institution.

The scholarship is to be used for tuition and out of pocket related expenses for higher education at an accredited institution.

Students will complete an application that includes their transcript, GPA, SAT/ACT scores, a reference, and an essay as to why they are interested in environmental related issues, what they have done to help environmental issues in the past, and what they plan on doing in the future.

The criteria for selection will ensure that the selection committee receives blind applications (they will not know the student names for the applications), and will evaluate the applications based on the academic performance (transcript and GPA), aptitude (SAT/ACT), a reference, and most importantly the essay component.  In addition, financial need from the FAFSA will be taken into consideration.

The decision will be made by a scholarship selection committee, once the committee determines the recipients, the GGG board will vote to approve the committee recommendation (or not approve).

A student is not eligible if they are related to any board member or selection committee member.

Tuition payments will be made directly to the institution in the students name, so that the funds are not paid directly to the individual.  If tuition payment can’t be made to the institution, it can be made (with board approval) to the student upon receiving receipt showing payment made by the student (in which case the scholarship is reimbursing the student for out of pocket expenses related to higher education payments.
